Process

“Chip away everything that doesn’t look like an elephant.” -unknown sculptor

“Or a shark. Or a seascape. Make the rock into what it’s meant to be.”

-Alice Kaanta, artist and owner of Petrifying Visions

Find the right rock.

Stones contain stories. I dig through rocks until I find one with a picture waiting to be seen. When I find that right rock, I cut and polish until everyone else can see it too.

I find nature’s secret art and make it into jewelry.

Add something fun.

Once I’ve a properly scenic stone, I inlay the details that make them truly come alive.

It’s not an iceberg until there’s a penguin on it.

Set the scene.

All pictures want a frame. Sometimes a rock only needs to be made wearable: set it, and we’re done.

Other times, it wants more: space, details, a backdrop.

I just build what the rocks need to make them shine and sing.

Wear it in the world

Make a statement.

Tell a story.

Wear something uniquely wonderful.

(Yes, I’m talking to the rocks, but you should too.)
